
MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – The board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held an extended meeting on 11 March to review the ministry's performance in 2024, BelTA has learned.
Taking part in the meeting were First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov, First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich, heads of a number of central government bodies, state-run organizations, regional executive committees and the Minsk City Executive Committee.
In his report, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov took stock of the work of the diplomatic service of Belarus in 2024 with a focus on the tasks set by the head of state in foreign policy and foreign economic policy. He outlined the priority areas for increasing the effectiveness of export promotion efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, diplomatic missions, ministries and concerns in 2025.
The ambassadors of Belarus to Russia and China reported on plans to ramp up and diversify exports. Particular attention was paid to trade and economic cooperation with African nations and other distant arc countries, the creation of Belarus' own export promotion infrastructure abroad, and the improvement of financial and non-financial export support instruments.
Nikolai Snopkov set the task to streamline systemic approaches to promoting Belarusian exports, taking into account the reality on the ground.
“Quantitative parameters should be achieved and their quality should be assessed in order to build medium- and long-term export promotion strategies,” Nikolai Snopkov emphasized.
First Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Natalya Petkevich remarked that it was necessary to improve forecasting and analytical work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and to refine the personnel selection and placement system.
