BREST, 18 September (BelTA) - The Day of People’s Unity celebrations in Brest wrapped up with a large open-air concert on 17 September, BelTA learned.

Audiences were delighted by performances from artists and creative groups of Brest Oblast and Minsk. Residents of the city and all districts of Brest Oblast gathered at the venue near the ice arena.

“17 September 1939 is a date forever inscribed in the history of our country. The reunification of Eastern and Western Belarus was a triumph of justice, a victory over division, and an embodiment of the unbreakable will of the Belarusian people for unity. "In unity, our Victory in the Great Patriotic War was forged. In unity, our ancestors rebuilt cities and villages from the ashes. In unity, we are building a strong and prosperous Belarus. Today, looking at beloved Brest and the smiles of its residents, I see how this power of unity transforms our lives, filling them with meaning and pride for our Homeland," Mayor of Brest Sergei Lobodinsky said.

“We are a people with a rich history, a unique culture, and spiritual values. Our strength lies in our loyalty to our roots, our respect for the older generation, and our care for the future of our children. We take pride in our traditions and our land," Sergei Lobodinsky emphasized. “The concert dedicated to the Day of People’s Unity, which we prepared for so thoroughly, turned out to be both moving and solemn. It became a vivid symbol of our unity, our love for the Motherland, and our pride in our people.”
